The audience came in fine voice and reveled in patriotic glory for a Best of British special event – Last Night of the Proms with iconic British conductor Sir Andrew Davis and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

British music is at the heart of the Last Night – the climax to the inaugural BBC Proms Australia season, and Percy Grainger’s In a Nutshell suite includes tributes both to the British capital and to the state of Victoria where he was born. No Last Night would be complete without singalongs to Land of Hope and Glory from the Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 by the quintessential Englishman, Edward Elgar, or without the stirring anthems Rule, Britannia! and Jerusalem – famous the world over.

Running time: 1 hour, 40 minutes including 20-minute interval.
