The Queensland Symphony Orchestra will be performing at Prom 2 on Thursday 14 April, conducted by Alondra de la Parra and at Prom 3 & 4, Life Story in Concert, on Friday 15 April and Saturday 16 April, conducted by Jeremy Holland-Smith, live at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne.
As an arts leader and great Australian orchestra, the QSO plays a pivotal role in Queensland’s arts landscape – educating; mentoring aspiring performers; touring regional centres; broadcasting and performing with state, national and international ballet and opera companies. Each year the QSO attracts the world’s best conductors and soloists as part of its acclaimed concert season, in addition to presenting unique blockbuster events. The QSO is passionate about commissioning innovative new programs and Australian works, and as the first Australian orchestra to partner with Foxtel Arts, continues to invest in collaborations, recordings and digital initiatives. In 2014 alone, the QSO engaged with over 1.1 million people. In October 2015, the QSO announced Alondra de la Parra as Music Director Designate. Ms de la Parra will commence in 2017.
